Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: vans +7.7%, trucks +19.4%, buses +15.5% in the first quarter of 2023

Demand for new vans in the EU expanded by 7.7% in the first quarter of 2023, totaling 355,553 units overall. Among the main national markets, Spain led the growth (+31.2%), followed by Germany (+9.2%) and Italy (+7.0%, with 46,790 registrations, about 3 thousand more than in the first quarter of 2022), while France lost 3.0%.

From January to March 2023, Truck sales went up by 19.4%, with good performance from the four largest markets: Germany +20.9%; France +12.4%; Poland +19.1%; Italy +9.5% (with 7,252 units).

Bus registrations also increased in Q1 2023, posting +15.5%, with important results in all major markets: Spain +68.7%; Italy +64.1% (with 1,326 vehicles registered); France +23.5% and Germany +16.2%.

Looking at the different fuel types, diesel continued to be the top choice in all segments, representing respectively 84.5% (vans), 96.1% (trucks) and 61.0% (buses) of the total.
