European commercial vehicle market: -12.3% in September, +19.1% in nine months

Demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU kept contracting in September, marking a significant -12.3%, with 143,131 units sold all across Europe.

Among the four biggest markets, Spain posted the worse performance (-26.7%), followed by Germany (-18.2%), France (-16.1%) and Italy (-10.4%, counting 15,958 registrations, over 1,8 thousand less than in September 2020).

In the last month, all four segments slowed down: LCV -13.6%; Heavy Trucks -1.8%; Trucks -5.8%; Buses & Coaches -3.8%.

From January to September, European commercial vehicle registrations remained positive (+19.1%) despite the results of the last months, totaling 1,436,934 units overall. Looking at the main national markets, Italy showed the highest numbers (+29.7%, with 157,669 registrations, more than 36 thousand over the same period last year), followed by France (16.8%), Spain (10.4%) and Germany (+8.5%).
