European passenger car market: +10.1% in February, +11.2% in two months

Demand for new passenger cars in EU kept growing in February (+10.1%), with 883,608 units sold overall.

Among the biggest markets, France (+13.0%) and Italy (+12.8%, with 147,026 registrations, about 16.7 thousand more compared to February 2023) performed the best, followed by Spain (+9.9%) and Germany (+5.4%).

Two months into the year, European passenger car registrations increased by 11.2%, counting 1,736,679 vehicles sold. Considering the four main national markets, Germany posted the best result (+11.8%), followed by Italy (+11.7%, with 288,948 registrations, more than 30 thousand over the same period last year), France (+11.2%) and Spain (+8.7%).

Battery-electric and hybrid-electric cars grew by 9.0% and 24.7%, holding respectively the 12.0% and 28.9% of the market share, while petrol was still the first choice (35.5%).
