European commercial vehicle market: +5.0% in February, +6.5% in the first two months

In February 2018 commercial vehicle registrations in the EU grew by 5.0%, totaling 173,385 units overall, with good performances in all segments.

Among the five biggest markets, Spain posted the highest upturn (+17.9%), followed by Italy (+5.7%, with 16,899 registrations, nearly a thousand more than in February 2017), France (+4.2%), Germany (+3.6%) and UK (+0.9%).

In the last month, light commercial vehicles increased by 5.8%, mainly supported by Spain and Germany. Both heavy trucks and trucks posted growth (respectively +2.5% and +1.0%), thanks to the good results recorded by Italy and France, and also bus and coach segment expanded (+1.9%).

In the first two months of the year demand for new commercial vehicles in Europe grew significantly (+6.5%), reaching 361,447 units sold. Except for the UK (-2.9%), all main markets expanded: Spain (+16.6%); Italy (+10.3%, with 33,611 vehicles, about 3 thousand over the same period last year); Germany (+6.4%); France (+5.1%).
