European commercial vehicle market: +6.9% in October, +3.9% in ten months

After the decline recorded in the previous month, demand for new commercial vehicles in Europe grew by 6.9% in October, thanks to the expansion of all segments. Germany posted double digit numbers (+16.9%), followed by UK (+10.9%), France (+7.3%) and Spain (+1.7%), while sales fell significantly in Italy (-13.2%, with 19,580 registrations, about 3 thousand less than in October 2017).

Light commercial vehicle registrations increased by 6.0% in October. Heavy trucks and trucks also expanded (respectively +7.7% and +9.6%), mainly supported by German, French and Italian markets, while bus and coach segment posted an extraordinary +25.0%.

From January to October 2018 European commercial vehicle market reached +3.9%, with more than 2 million registrations overall (2,068,085). Spain led the growth with +7.9%, followed by France and Germany (both +5.4%). In the same ten months market contracted in Italy (-2.2%, with 168,395 units, around 3.7 thousand less compared to the same period last year) and UK (-2.2%).
