Following the positive results registered in 2015, in January European commercial vehicle market marked the 13th consecutive month of growth, expanding by 12.0% and totaling 159,712 units. Amongst the main national markets, Italy posted the highest upturn (+23.9%, with 13,457 registrations, about 2.6 thousand over the same month last year), followed by Spain (+21.0%), France (+11.7%) and Germany (+11.5%), while UK showed a slight decline (-1.4%).
Trucks and heavy trucks segments posted strong growth, reaching respectively +19.1% and +18.4% in January. Light commercial vehicles also marked a good start to the year (+11.0%), growing for the 29th consecutive month and totaling 130,040 new registrations, mainly supported by Italy, Spain, France and Germany. Bus and coach segment showed no significant change (-0.2%) due to the downturn of British and Italian markets and the low rates posted by Germany and France.
