Demand for new passenger cars in the EU declined by 1.0% in February, with 1,114,692 registrations overall. Germany posted the best performance (+2.7%), followed by France (+2.1%) and UK (+1.4%), while Italy (-2.4%, with 177,825 units, about 4.4 thousand less compared to February 2018) and Spain (-8.8%) kept on contracting for the sixth month in a row.
Two months into the year, European passenger car registrations went down by 2.9%, totaling 2,310,099 units sold. Among the main national markets, Germany, France and UK remained stable (respectively +0.6%, +0.5% and -0.6%), while Spain (-8.4%) and Italy (-4.9%, with 343.010 registrations, 17.5 thousand less compared the same period last year) declined significantly.
