Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: -11.9% in July, -5.4% in August, +24.0% in eight months

After the good result showed in June, European commercial vehicle market contracted for two consecutive months, posting -11.9% in July and -5.4% in August, with respectively 148,178 and 119,525 units sold overall.

Looking at the biggest markets, Spain recorded the worse upturn (-31.5% in July and -27.0% in August), followed by France (-16.9% /-13.3%), Italy (-13.1% / -8.5%) and Germany (-9.3% / -11.9%).

This mainly depended on the decline of LCV registrations (-15.7% in July and -8.2% in August), while other segments performed well: Heavy Trucks +15.2% / +14.6%; Trucks +10.6% / +9.1%; Buses & Coaches +12.2% / +17.5%.

From January to August, commercial vehicle registrations in the EU grew by 24.0%, reaching 1,292,628 units. All main national markets posted double digit figures: Italy +35.4% (with 140,445 units, about 36.7 thousand more than in the first eight months of 2020); France +22.4%; Spain +16.0%; Germany +12.5%.
