Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: -22.5% in June, - 20.3% in six months

In June, commercial vehicle sales in Europe went down by a sharp 22.5%, totaling 144,210 units overall and marking the twelfth consecutive month of decline.

The four reference markets posted double-digit losses: Spain -26.9%; Germany -26.1%; Italy -21.3% (with 15,477 vehicles registered, nearly 4.2 thousand less than in June 2021); France -20.9%).

The bad monthly result was mainly caused by the drop in LCV segment (-26.8%), which represents the 80% of the whole market. Bus & Coach segment lost 8.7%, while Heavy Trucks and Trucks gained 4.6% and 2.2%.

In the first half of the year, demand for new commercial vehicles in Europe contracted by 20.3%, with 817,090 units sold. Among the major markets, Spain recorded the worst performance from January to June (-30.4%), followed by France (-22.1%), Germany (-18.8%) and Italy (-10.3%, totaling 101,148 registrations, nearly 11.7 thousand less compared to the same period last year).
