Demand for new commercial vehicles kept declining in October, with -7.3%, totaling 205,845 units sold across the European Union. Except for Spain (+0.9%) and Italy (+0.7%, with 19,611 registrations, about 140 more than in October 2018), other major national markets contracted: Germany -11.4%; UK -9.3%; France -2.6%.
All segments posted negative numbers, especially Heavy Trucks and Trucks (respectively -15.2% and -14.9%) as a consequence of the bad performance of all key markets except Spain. LCV sales declined by 5.8%, while Bus and Coach segment only lost 0.8%.
From January to October EU commercial vehicle registrations increased by 3.3%, thanks to the positive results recorded before September, totaling 2,137,469 units overall in Europe. Germany led the growth (+8.2%), followed by France (+5.1%), Italy (+4.4%, with 175,166 vehicle registered, nearly 7.5 thousand over the same period last year), UK (+3.8%) and Spain (+1.4%).
