European commercial vehicle registrations: +2.8% in June, +5.8% in the first half of 2019

Commercial vehicle market in the EU increased by 2.8% in June, growing for the sixth month in a row, with 254,919 units sold. The positive result was mainly supported by UK and Germany, with double digit figures (respectively +18.5% and +10.5%), followed by Italy (+7.1%, with 20,033 vehicles, over 1.3 thousand more than in June 2018) and France (+3.9%). Only exception among the main markets was Spain (-0.7%).

Light commercial vehicles slowed down last month (-5.0%), while all other segments posted strong growth: trucks +47.0%; heavy trucks +46.9%; bus and coach +32.2%.

During the first half of the year demand for commercial vehicles expanded by 5.8%, totaling 1,358,271 units sold overall in the EU. From January to June 2019, growth was led by Germany (+13.9%), followed by UK (+10.2%), France (+6.9%), Italy (+4.8%, with 111,191 registrations, about 5 thousand over the same period last year) and Spain (+2.6%).
