Commercial vehicle registrations marked in May the 17th consecutive month of growth, increasing by 16.4% with 187,134 units sold in the EU and showing positive results across all segments. Amongst the largest national markets Italy registered the best performance once again, growing by 35.9% (with 16,948 registrations, 4.5 thousand over May 2015), followed in double digit figures by France (+27.2%), Spain (+17.3%) and Germany (+10.8%), while UK showed the lowest numbers (+2.2%).
In the last month, demand for new light commercial vehicles totaled 155,397 units (+17.7%), marking the 33rd consecutive month of growth, mainly sustained by the noteworthy performances of Italy (+48.2%) and France (+21.6%). Trucks and heavy trucks segments both confirmed the positive trend (respectively +11.2% and +11.7%) while buses and coaches registrations increased by 2.6%.
From January to May 2016 commercial vehicle market reached +13.5%, with nearly one million vehicles sold in five months (946,128). All major markets posted growth: Italy (+30.6%, with 77,904 units, over 18 thousand more compared to the same period last year), Spain (+13.9%), France (+13.1%), Germany (+10.2%), UK (+3.8%).
