With 191,826 registrations in December, marking the 12th consecutive month of growth, EU commercial vehicle market increased by 14.8%, with significant results in all main national markets. Italy posted the higher figure (+23.2%, totaling 15,532 units, nearly 3 thousand more compared with December 2014), followed by Spain (+23.0%), and UK (+20.3%), both registering double digit growth too, while France and Germany showed lower percentage gains, still encouraging though (respectively +9.4% and +8.7%).
All segments sustained the overall upturn: light commercial vehicles kept growing for the 28th consecutive month, reaching +13.5% in December (160,518 registrations). Both trucks and heavy trucks posted strong growth (+23.7% and +22.4%), mostly supported by UK and Spain, while bus and coach segment registered +11.1%, mainly driven by Italian, French and British markets.
On an annual basis, 2015 showed a clear expansion in demand for new commercial vehicles (+12.4%), with over two million registrations (2,079,322), growing for the third year in a row. Amogst the major markets, Spain registered the best performance (+36.4%), followed by UK (+16.7%), Italy (+13.2%, with 149,853 units sold), Germany (+4.3%) and France (+3.1%).
