With 229,570 units, European commercial vehicle market expanded by 2.5% in June, thanks to the performance of LCV and bus segments. Except for Germany (-6.7%), all main national markets posted growth: Italy recorded double digit numbers (+12.7%, with 18,970 vehicles, over 2 thousand more than in June 2016), followed by Spain (+8.8%), France (+2.6%) and UK (+2.1%, recovering from the decline showed in May).
Light commercial vehicle registrations increased by 3.2%, mainly supported by Italy and Spain, and also bus and coach segment performed well (+2.7%). Bad news from trucks and heavy trucks (respectively -1.7% and -1.0%), because of the fall of German market.
In the first half of 2017 demand for commercial vehicles in the EU grew by 4.2%, totaling 1,221,811 registrations. Spain posted the best result (+14.2%), followed by Italy (+8.7%, with 103,754 units, more than 8 thousand over the same period last year), France (+6.0%) and Germany (+2.1%), while British market declined over the first six month of the year (-2.7%).
