Demand for new vans grew by 12.6% in the first quarter of 2024, with 399,947 units sold. Amongst the four major markets, Italy performed the best (+19.4%, with 56,028 registrations, about 9.1 thousand more than in the first four months of 2023), followed by Germany (+12.7%), Spain (+10.9%) and France (+8.7%).
New truck registrations decreased by 4.0%, with 85,296 units. Germany and France lost respectively 2.2% and 0.3%, while Spain (+15.7%) and Italy (+6.6%, with 7,884 vehicles registered, 487 more than one year ago) expanded.
On the contrary, bus sales went up by a significant 23.3% (9,624 registrations), pushed by the results of Germany (+20.0%), Italy (+18.3%, with 1,577 units sold, 244 more than in the same period last year) and Spain (+7.6%), while France lost 16.8%.
Diesel was still the dominant power source in all segments: 84.2% vans; 95.5% trucks; 70.7% buses.
