Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: +4.7% in February, +5.7% in the first two months of 2019

After an encouraging start of the year, commercial vehicle market kept on growing in February (+4.7%), with 181,636 units sold in the EU. Among the main national markets, Germany led the growth with double digit numbers (+15.2%), followed by France (+7.1%) and Italy (+3.8%, with 17,331 registrations, over 600 more than in February 2018). UK posted no significant change (+0.5%), while Spain contracted by 3.8%.

The expansion of German and French markets largely contributed to the growth of light commercial vehicles segment (+4.4%), as well as trucks and heavy trucks (respectively +6.5% and +5.2%). Buses and coaches registrations also went up (+4.5%), mainly pushed by the Central European markets.

Two months into the year, demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU increased by 5.7%, totaling 382,114 registrations overall. Germany posted the best performance (+15.5%), followed by France (+7.7%), UK (+6.3%), Spain (+2.1%) and Italy (+1.2%, with 33,741 units, 400 more compared to the same period last year).
