Commercial vehicle market in the EU: +2.7% in February, +5.6% in the first two months

In the second month of 2017 demand for new commercial vehicles kept growing (+2.7%), mainly driven by light commercial vehicle and bus segments, totaling 164,788 registrations overall. Spain posted double digit growth (+12.8%), followed by Italy (+11.4%, with 16,180 units sold, about 1.6 thousand more than in February 2016) and France (+3.5%), while United Kingdom and Germany recorded a slight decline (respectively -2.6% and -0.3%).

In February, European light commercial vehicle market expanded by 3.2%, mostly thanks to Italy and France, while heavy trucks and trucks remained more or less stable (+1.0% and -0.1%). Bus and coach segment also posted growth (+6.2%), mostly supported by the extraordinary outcome recorded by Italy.

In the first two months of the year, new commercial vehicle registrations increased by 5.6%, with 338,947 units, mainly pushed by Spain (+18.0%) and Italy (+11.3%, with 30,923 units, around 3.1 thousand over the same period last year). Looking at the largest markets, France posted growth (+6.6%), while Germany and United Kingdom showed modest results (+1.1% and +0.8%).
