Commercial vehicle market in the EU: +6.0% in September, +13.1% in nine months

Following the extraordinary result seen in August, in September 2016 commercial vehicle market kept growing (+6.0%), though at a slower pace, marking the 21st consecutive month of growth and totaling 220,781 units sold.

Amongst the major markets Italy posted the best upturn once again (+46.3%, with 18,448 registrations, nearly 6 thousand more than in September 2015), followed by Spain (+14.1%) and Germany (+5.1%), while UK and France showed a slight decline (respectively -0.9% and -1.1%).

Light commercial vehicle registrations increased by 6.8% in September, the 37th consecutive positive monthly result, totaling 185,415 units, thanks again to the strong expansion of the Italian market (+46.3%). New heavy truck and truck segment both posted growth (+2.9% and +2.2%), while bus and coach recorded the fourth consecutive month of decline (-1.8%).

Over nine months of 2016 more than 1.7 million commercial vehicles were registered in the EU (+13.1%). From January to September, growth was supported by all main national markets: Italy (+40.2%, totaling 148,086 units sold, 42 thousand over the same period last year), Spain (+13.1%), Germany (+11.3%), France (+10.1%), UK (+2.0%).
