Commercial vehicle market in the EU: +9.6% in April, +4.3% in the first four months

After the slow down recorded in March, demand for new commercial vehicles increased significantly in April (+9.6%), with 199,252 units sold. Except for the UK, where registrations remained stable (+0.03%), all main national markets posted growth: Spain and Germany showed double digit numbers (respectively +22.0% and +14.5%), followed with lowest increases by France (+6.9%) and Italy (+1.3%, totaling 15,568 vehicles, only about 200 more than in April 2017).

Light commercial vehicles registrations grew by 9.8%, supported by all key markets (with the exception of Italy) as well as trucks and heavy trucks (+10.6% and +11.7%), mainly thanks to the outstanding performances of Italy, Spain and Germany, while bus and coach segment declined by 4.3%.

From January to April 2018 commercial vehicles registrations went up by 4.3%, with 822,481 units, supported by the good results posted by Spain (+12.3%), France (+6.4%), Italy (+3.9%, with 68,371 vehicles, 2.5 thousand over the same period last year) and Germany (+3.8%), while market in the UK remained negative (-3.4%).
