Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: +14.6% in April, +12.8% in the first four months

April 2016 closed with another strong result, marking the 16th consecutive month of growth. EU commercial vehicle market expanded by 14.6%, totaling 195,013 units sold. Looking at the main national markets, Italy once again posted the highest upturn, growing by +32.5% (with 16,212 registrations, nearly four thousand more compared to April 2015), followed by Spain (+19.5%), Germany (+12.3%) and UK (+11.2%). Only France showed a single digit rate (+9.6%).

In April, light commercial vehicle registrations reached +13.6%, totaling 159,012 units and marking the 32nd consecutive month of growth, mainly thanks to the good results registered by Italy (+30.8%) and Spain (+18.0%). Good news also from trucks and heavy trucks segments, both growing at a strong rate (respectively +21.3% and +22.2%), while bus and coach segment posted a lower though positive result (+2.7%).

From January to April 2016 EU market totaled 758,566 commercial vehicles registered, +12.8% over the same period last year. All major markets expanded: Italy (+29.2%, with 60,919 units, nearly 13.8 thousand more than in the first four months of 2015), Spain (+12.9%), France (+10.1%), Germany (+10.0%), UK (+4.1%).
