Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: +17.8% in February, +14.5% in the first two months

Growing for the 14th consecutive month and totaling 160,062 units, demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU reached +17.8% in February, thanks to the encouraging upturns registered in all segments. Amongst the major European markets, Italy posted the highest result (+30.4%, with 14,430 registrations, nearly 3.4 thousand over the same month last year), followed with double figures by Spain (+17.6%), Germany (+16.2%) and France (+13.9%). British market also kept growing, although at a slower pace (+3.7%).

Light commercial vehicle registrations grew by 16.9%, totaling 131,799 units and marking the 30th consecutive month of growth, mainly pushed by Italy, Spain, Germany and France. Trucks and heavy trucks posted the highest increases (respectively +23.4% and +22.2%), mostly supported by the expansion of Italian and British markets, while bus and coach segment showed a noteworthy growth (+10.5%) after the poor results posted in January.

Considering the first two months of 2016, new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU increased by 15.4%, totaling 320,833 units. Looking at the main national markets, only UK remained stable (+0.6%), while all other countries posted double digit figures: Italy (+27.1%, with 27,883 vehicles sold, about 6 thousand over the same period last year), Spain (+19.1%), Germany (+13.9%), France (+12.8%).
