Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: -2.5% in March, +2.6% in the first three months

European commercial vehicle market fell by 2.5% last month, with 260,810 registrations, nearly 7 thousand less compared to March 2017. Except for France (+7.7%), all main national markets declined: Germany (-7.6%), UK (-5.9), Italy (-3.5%, totaling about 700 units less than last year), Spain (-1.9%).

Demand for light commercial vehicles decreased (-2.2%), as well as trucks (-2.7%) and heavy trucks (-3.0%), while bus and coach segment dropped significantly (-12.6%).

Considering the first quarter of 2018, commercial vehicle registrations remained positive (+2.6%), thanks to the strong results recorded in the previous two months. Spain posted the highest numbers (+9.2%), followed by France (+6.2%), Italy (+4.8%, with nearly 53 thousand registrations, 2.4 thousand over the same period last year) and Germany (+0.4%), while UK fell by 4.6%.
