Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: -4.2% in December, -18.9% in 2020

Demand for new commercial vehicles declined by 4.2% in December, totaling 170,122 units all across Europe, mainly as a consequence of the bad performance of LCV segment (-6.0%), while others posted a significant growth: Heavy Trucks +11.8%; Trucks +7.1%; Buses & Coaches +13.4%.

With an eye to the main national markets, Germany expanded by 4.7% and Spain by 2.3%, while France contracted (-2.1%) and Italy fell by 9.4% (with 20,135 registrations, over 2 thousand less than in December 2019).

Considering the whole 2020, commercial vehicle registrations in EU fell by 18.9%, totaling 1,716,073 units sold (compared to the 2,117,106 of 2019). Among the biggest markets, Spain recorded the worst result (-26.1%), followed by France (-16.9%), Italy (-15.1%, with 183,174 units, about 32.5 thousand less compared to the previous year) and Germany (-14.8%).
