Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: +7.8% in April, +5.8% in the first four months

European commercial vehicle market expanded by 7.8% in April, marking the fourth consecutive month of growth and totaling 215,497 units sold overall. Registrations went up in all main national markets: France recorded double digit figures (+12.7%), as well as Italy (+11.6%, with 17,715 units, about 1.8 thousand more than in April 2018) and Germany (+10.1%), while Spain and UK grew with lower numbers (respectively +5.8% and +4.8%).

Demand for light commercial vehicles increased by 8.4%, pushed by all five major markets and also trucks and heavy trucks posted good results (+5.6% and +5.8%), while bus and coach segment declined by 4.4%.

Four months into the year, European commercial vehicle registrations grew by 5.8%, with 871,100 units. Looking at the biggest markets, Germany led the growth (+12.1%), followed by UK (+8.3%), France (+6.5%), Spain (+3.8%) and Italy (+3.4%, with 70,668 registrations, 2.3 thousand over the same period last year).
