European car market: +1.1% in October, +0.7% over ten months

Car registrations in Europe have returned to growth, rising by 1.1% in October after two months of decline, with a total of 886,397 units sold. Among the four main markets, Spain leads with a +7.2% increase, followed by Germany (+6.0%). Meanwhile, Italy (-9.1%, equating to 126,570 registrations, about 12,600 fewer than in October last year) and France (-11.1%) saw declines.

From January to October, demand for new cars in Europe remained virtually stable at +0.7%, with nearly 8.9 million units sold. Spain (+4.9%) and Italy (+0.9%, with 1,329,063 vehicles registered, around 12,500 more than the first ten months of 2023) recorded growth, while the French and German markets contracted (-2.7% and -0.4%, respectively).

In terms of fuel types, hybrids lead the market with a 33.3% share, followed by petrol (30.8%), electric vehicles (14.4%), and diesel (10.9%).
