European commercial vehicle market: -24.9% in March, -18.1% in three months

Demand for new commercial vehicles dropped by 24.9% in March, posting the ninth negative month in a row and totaling 153,553 units sold overall.

Looking at the main national markets, Spain recorded the worst performance (-41.2%), followed by France (-25.9%), Germany (-19.6%) and Italy (-9.7%, with 18,753 registrations, about 2 thousand less than in March 2021).

Amongst the segments, LCV declined by 28.7%, followed with double digit numbers by Bus & Coach (-21.6%), while Trucks and Heavy Trucks posted smaller losses (respectively -6.6% and -4.6%).

From January to March, commercial vehicle registrations in the EU lost 18.1%, totaling 411,097 units. In the first quarter of 2022, all bigger markets slowed down: Spain -30.3%; France -21.9%; Germany -11.6%; Italy -4.8% (with 50,939 registrations, about 2.5 thousand less compared to the same period last year).
