European commercial vehicle market: -5.1% in December, -14.6% in 2022

Demand for new commercial vehicles decreased by 5.1% in December, slowing down for the eighteen consecutive month, with 148,149 units sold all over Europe.

Looking at the main national markets, Spain and Germany expanded (respectively +15.2% and +8.4%), while France contracted significantly (-14.2%), as well as Italy (-8.3%, with 17,666 registrations, nearly 1,6 thousand less compared to December 2021).

All segments posted negative numbers: Bus & Coach -17.2%; LCV -5.1%; Truck -3.2%; Heavy Trucks -1.9%.

Considering the whole year, commercial vehicle registrations in the EU fell by 14.6% with 1,606,804 units overall. All biggest marked suffered double digit losses: France -17.7%; Spain -16.7%; Germany -11.0%; Italy -10.5% (with 189,690 units, almost 22.2 thousand less compared to the previous year).
