European commercial vehicle market: LCVs -8.8%, Trucks -6.2%, Bus&Coach +7.5% in 2025

It has been a challenging year for the European commercial vehicle market, with a general downward trend across most segments, the only exception being the Bus&Coach segment.

New light commercial vehicle (LCV) registrations fell by 8.8% in 2025, weighed down by declines in the main markets: France (-5.6%), Germany (-5.4%) and Italy (-5.0%). In contrast, Spain bucked the trend with robust growth of +11.7%.

The truck segment also recorded a significant contraction, down 6.2% overall. All major markets contributed to this decline, with Germany suffering a double-digit drop (-12.2%), followed by France (-9.0%), Spain (-3.6%) and Italy (-2.8%).

In stark contrast, the Bus&Coach segment closed the year with a 7.5% increase, supported by strong performances in Germany (+28.0%) and Poland (+16.6%). France remained essentially flat (-0.1%), while Italy (-15.9%) and Spain (-4.0%) continued to contract.

Looking at powertrains, diesel remained the dominant choice across all segments in 2025: LCVs (80.7% share), Trucks (93.2%) and Bus&Coach (62.1%).
