European passenger car market: +14.3% in February, +10.1% in the first two months

February 2016 marked another significant increase in passenger car registrations in the EU (+14.3%), totaling 1,056,902 units and growing for the 30th consecutive month. Among the main national markets, Italy posted the highest result (+27.3%, with 172,241 new registrations, nearly 37 thousand over the same month last year), followed by France (+13.0%), Spain (+12.6%) and Germany (+12.0%), all posting double figures. UK also kept growing although at a slower rate (+8.4%).

In the first two months of 2016 European passenger car market expanded by 10.1%, supported by all major countries, totaling 2,118,273 units sold. Best performance was recorded by Italy (+22.6%, with 327,963 registrations, 60 thousand more compared to the same period in 2015), followed by Spain (+12.6%), France (+8.7%), Germany (+7.8%) and UK (+4.7%).
