European passenger car market: -20.5% in November, -0.04% in eleven months

Demand for new passenger cars in EU kept contracting in November, with -20.5%, totaling 713,346 units all across Europe and marking the fifth consecutive month of decline.

Except for France (-3.2%), all major markets posted double digit contractions: Germany -31.7%; Italy -24.6% (with 104,478 registrations, over 34 thousand less than in November 2020); Spain -12.3%.

From January to November, passenger car registrations lost 0.04%, with 8,904,900 units, despite the comparison with the bad results of 2020. Looking at the four biggest markets, Italy posted the best performance with +8.6% (with 1,371,166 units, about 109 thousand over the same period last year), followed by Spain (+3.8%) and France (+2.5%), while Germany slowed down (-8.1%).
