Passenger car registrations in the EU: +21.7% in December, +1.2% in 2019

Marking the fourth consecutive month of growth, passenger car market increased by 21.7% in December, with 1,215,076 units sold in Europe. Looking at the biggest markets, France posted the highest upturn (+27.7%), followed by Germany (+19.5%), Italy (+12.5%, with 140,075 registrations, over 15 thousand more compared to December 2019), Spain (+6.6%) an UK (+3.4%).

Considering the whole year, demand for new passenger car went up by 1.2% in 2019, with 15,340,188 units overall, marking the sixth consecutive year of growth. In twelve months, Germany recorded the best performance (+5.0%), followed by France (+1.9%) and Italy (+0.3%, with 1,916,320 car registered, about 5.6 thousand more compared to the past year), while both UK and Spain contracted (respectively -2.4% and -4.8%).
