Passenger car registrations in the EU: +7.2% in September, +8.0% over nine months

After the upswing registered in August, European passenger car market kept growing in September (+7.2%), reaching 1,455,180 units sold, the highest September result on record. Growth was supported by all main national markets: once again Italy posted the best upturn (+17.4%, with 153,617 registrations, about 23 thousand more compared with September 2015), followed with double digit figures by Spain (+13.9%), then Germany (+9.4%), France (+2.5%) and UK (+1.6%).

Over the first three quarters of 2016 passenger car registrations in the EU reached 11,243,263 units, growing by 8.0% and proving the strong vitality of all five major markets. Italy leads the growth (+17.4%, totaling 1,406,035 units, 208 thousand over the same period last year), followed by Spain (+11.5%), Germany (+6.1%), France (+5.7%), and UK (+2.6%).
