Passenger car registrations in the EU: -7.8% in June, -3.1% in six months

Demand for passenger cars in the EU fell by 7.8% in June 2019, totaling 1,446,183 units overall, as a consequence of the negative results posted by all main national markets: France -8.4%; Spain -8.3%; UK -4.9%; Germany -4.7%; Italy -2.1% (with 171,626 registrations, about 3.6 thousand less than in June 2018).

In the first half of the year registrations declined by 3.1%, with 8.2 million units sold in the EU (8,183,562). Except for Germany (+0.5%), all biggest markets contracted: Spain posted the lowest figures (-5.7%), followed by Italy (-3.5%, with 1,082,197 cars registered, nearly 40 thousand less compared to the same period last year), UK (-3.4%) and France (-1.8%).
