Demand for new cars across Europe continues to grow, with June marking the fifth consecutive month of improvement. Registrations rose sharply by 13.6%, reaching a total of around 1.15 million units.
Among the major national markets, Germany recorded the strongest performance (+15.7%), followed by France (+11.4%), Italy (+10.6%, with 146,351 units registered, almost 14,000 more than in June 2025) and Spain (+7.8%).
Over the first six months of the year, the European new car market grew by 5.7%, with a total of 5,896,683 registrations. Among the key markets, Italy recorded the strongest growth (+9.5%, with 936,045 units registered, around 81,400 more than in the same period last year), followed by Spain (+6.2%), Germany (+5.8%) and France (+1.8%).
Hybrid vehicles remain the best-selling powertrain, accounting for 37.3% of the market, followed by petrol (22.2%), battery electric vehicles (20.7%), plug-in hybrids (9.8%) and diesel (7.5%).
